boutique & beautiful
Constantia is always “beau”( tiful) but nowhere more so than at this small boutique wine farm at the very top of the Constantia Valley, situated on the north-facing slope of Constantia Nek
The tasting room, a giant glass box, is balanced in defiance of gravity above the vineyards which fall away into the valley below. The view through the huge windows stretches across to the distant mountains, the décor is modern and very relaxed in soft greys, and there are terraced outdoor decks for summer days. Water runs across the stone walls that separate them and if you want to find a cool and private spot to settle into, with a view to boot, choose one of the glamorous day beds.
Downstairs, there is a wine bar and Sushi Box, serving delicious tuna and prawn sushi platters. It was booked out the day we visited so we had a wine tasting upstairs. Beau Constantia has a premium range under the estate name and a value range called Pas De Nom (the No Name Brand). While we were there we checked out a delicious looking tray of canapés paired with their wines on its way to another table. Cheese boards are also available.
Another glass box contains the “loo with a view” . Certainly the most stylish and dramatic loo imaginable. And yet another of these glass boxes contains a private wining and dining space called the Bronnsbox.
It’s a very short stroll from Constantia Nek, so a perfect place to visit if you are using the hop-on hop-off red bus. It is all “tres bon” at Beau Constantia.
