The farm, originally a goat farm, was purchased by the Du Preez family in 2002. The great fires of 2000 destroyed the farm, and the land subsequently became overgrown with alien vegetation.

Clearing of the alien vegetation was the first project to which the owners dedicated themselves, following which, came soil analysis, showing great promise for the planting of vineyards, along with restoring the natural beauty of the mountain – an ongoing project.

Planting of the vineyards commenced in 2003 on the steep slopes of Beau Constantia, elevated to 350 meters above sea level. For this they brought in Japie Bronn, an icon in the wine industry who came out of retirement to take up the position of Farm Manager and Viticulturist.

With only 11,5 hectares under vine, it seems unbelievable that the farm boasts 9 different varietals and 2 ranges of wines both of which are beautifully hand-crafted by young wine-maker, Justin van Wyk.
Our premium range, Beau Constantia, now includes 4 different wines, of which each have received more than 90 Robert Parker points.

Our latest venture, the Wine Bar – contemporary and clean design meets fine wine, craft beer and sushi. A winning combination we like to think! We have joined forces with other young brands, Sushi Box, Darling Breweries and Cluver & Jack Cider to offer something not yet experienced on the Constantia Wine Route.

Situated below our ever popular Tasting Room, this new space offers a place to sit longer and enjoy wine and bubbly by the glass or bottle, complimented by beautiful plates of sushi from Sushi Box. Offering lavish portions of the freshest and highest quality sushi, and made famous from their first branch in Newlands.

Most definitely another brand on the way up, and one that we are proud to be associated with. To offer a bit of diversity in our new and exciting space, we are thrilled to have Darling Breweries on board with their Slow Beer and Native Ale on tap, with the prospect of an exclusive Beau Constantia Brew in the pipeline.
